The base engine in the 2021 Ford Escape is a three-cylinder 1.5-litre that delivers 181 horsepower with 190 pound-feet of torque. The difference in torque is what is immediately noticeable, but there’s more to it than that. Being a three-cylinder, the engine behaviour and the sound are also considerably different and take some to get used to.
