Everything You Want to Know About the New 2024 Volkswagen ID.Buzz

Volkswagen is getting ready to introduce the new 2024 ID. Buzz to the Canadian market. This electric minivan has garnered a lot of attention since it was revealed last year, so here are some more details you might like to know about it.

A modernized icon

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz takes its stylistic inspiration from the VW Bus that became a cultural icon around the world in the 60s and 70s. With its slightly rounded shape and its two-tone paint schemes, the ID. Buzz pays homage to this very important model in Volkswagen’s history. In addition, the interior of the electric minivan also calls back to the beloved Bus with its minimalist design and its available white steering wheel. Of course, the ID. Buzz will also benefit from the practicality of its ancestor, becoming the first model in the Canadian lineup to benefit from sliding rear doors since the Routan was discontinued back in 2014.

Still a very modern vehicle

Don’t let the Volkswagen ID. Buzz’s slightly retro appearance fool you: this is a thoroughly modern vehicle. Indeed, the ID. Buzz will only be the second new-generation fully electric vehicle offered in Canada by Volkswagen and it will share many of its components with the current ID. 4. Indeed, the minivan will be built on the same MEB platform as the electric crossover and it is expected to share the same powertrain. Full details for the Canadian version haven’t been announced yet, but European models of the ID. Buzz use the same 82 kWh battery pack as the ID. 4 which can be charged from 5 to 80% in only 30 minutes when using a DC fast charger. This level of technology also carries over to the inside, where the ID. Buzz will also share its main systems with the existing ID.4.

A very sustainable van

Moving toward a more sustainable future doesn’t only mean making emissions-free vehicles to Volkswagen, which is why the upcoming 2024 ID. Buzz will feature a high proportion of recycled and responsibly sourced content. These materials will be found in the headlining, the seat covers, the door panels, and the carpeting which will all make use of post-consumption plastics.
